The Appalachians are a mountain range in North America. It begins in Canada and extends along the Atlantic coast to the Southern States of the US. It crosses seventeen states. The state of West Virginia is even completely covered by the Appalachian Mountains. The highest mountain in the Appalachians is Mount Mitchell with a height of 6683 feet. However, most of the peaks are smaller than 4000 feet.
